Former Top Gear trio starts filming new show with LaFerrari, P1, 918 battle in Algarve
Jeremy Clarkson has tweeted work has begun on the new show for Amazon set to air next year.
The guys are back on set for their brand new show believed to be called "Gear Knobs" and it seems in the very first episode of next year's inaugural season the "Holy Trinity" consisting of the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder will be featured. This was supposed to happen during the now old Top Gear format, but Ferrari and McLaren refused to let The Stig test them on the TG track while Porsche was up for the challenge.
Now, the three hybrid supercars will be on circuit together and we're curious to see whether the new show will have the equivalent of The Stig to put these high-end machines through their paces. We are not entirely sure but the track appears to be Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (commonly referred to as Portimão Circuit) in Portugal.
The show will start sometime next fall and apparently will contain 12 episodes per season, part of a 36-episode / 3-season $250 million deal signed by Clarkson, May and Hammond with Amazon for their Prime online service. Not only will the old TG crew be reunited, but the show is being directed by the same Andy Wilman, so the winning formula has been carried over.
Interestingly, the three cars will also be at the forefront of an upcoming episode from Chris Harris on Cars as the attached picture was uploaded by Chris himself as a response to Clarkson's tweet.
